Recession-proof business: selling Halal branded food in Western Europe

Zakia is a Halal-food company based in France and sponsors the cooking show "Un diner presque parfait" (the French version of Come Dine With Me).

I predict that it is one of the rare sectors that will not be victim of the recession. As Muslims population grows in the Western Europe so does their purchasing power (when you are a second or third generation, you usually are better educated, meaning better paying job), meaning that it is a market that is increasing in volume and value.

So much so that there is a Halal Expo in Paris, which didn't exist 10 years ago!
